Cosmic Cowboys – Amor Vincit Omnia(feat. HERB LF and YOKOO remixes) / Beef Records

This is truly an extra ordinary ep; atmospheric sound scapes built on stirdy and warm base lines are floating through the air.

The YokoO Remix of Home is where your heart is, is a masterpiece in the deep house area. A sound so human and emotional, a sensual and whispering voice accompanying the subtle and crystal like bright keys; a combination which brings you in a sort of harmonic exaltation. Wonderful and beautiful, a classic and a track which will be featured in my radio show 'Easy Notes' on www.zenfm.be.

The original mix of Amor Vincit Omnia stays true to the magic deep house sound created by Space Cowboys, it has a positive sense of mysteriosity and a certain relaxing, mesmerizing subtone; giving the track a rather special spirit. Great track ans a fine variation comes in when the sax comes into play. Highly intoxicating and so nice to listen too!

The Herb LF Remix of Amor Vincit Omnia is a superb version for those lovers of firm and tight deep house gems. Sounding more complicated but nevertheless very enjoyable, Mr Herb LF dips us into a rhythm tough not to give in too; perfect for those late hour sets or warm and hot sundowning parties!

The original version of Home is where your heart is keeps it more funky and rather uplifting, making it a perfect tune to play in the build up of a set. The deep base line and the sax which is more present here are a surplus to the overall vibe and atmosphere.

Beef Records continue their list of strong, qualitative releases. This ep is a must have for every deep house fan. DJ's have to play this!

  4. Rainer Weichhold - Tango For Noemi (Chase Buch & Nick Olivetti Remix)
  5. Rainer Weichhold - Tango For Noemi (Paolo Mojo Remix)

Rainer Weichhold - Tango For Noemi / Great Stuff Records

The original version seems to combine 2 contradictory elements; there's the deep and threathening base line and on the other hand the high frequency melody. But it all matches and the 2 go sit wonderful next to each other in the mix. Well done Mr. Weichhold!

The version which strikes me the most in this highly amusable tech house package is the Paolo Mojo Remix. His remix has a certain sensual degree, thanks to the add of the smooth female vocal and the long build up. The fact the melody comes in without a real break keeps the tension in the track and prooves Mr. Mojo has a different point of view on how to build tracks and keep them vibrating as the exstatic break down shows us at around 6.00 minutes. Excellent version, support guaranteed in my 15-Track Podcast.

Mr. Ramon Tapia takes a more laidback approach and a rather original one too with his filtered sound floating through the track. The track never really explodes thus making it an excellent crowd teaser.

  1. Fran LK - Cardiac Arrest
  2. Fran LK - Out Of Control

Fran LK - Out Of Control / Incense Records

Out of control is exactly what this track will do to you, you are warned. It all goes loose when the throbbing base line kicks in. Firm and tight as it is, the rhythm is thriving dynamically straight forward and will keep the clubbers where they should be .. on the floor. A weird voice and dito little sounds combined with short drum patterns which provide the necessary variation, are responsible for the high nervosity level in this track.

Mind storming and brain absorbing sounds on Incense Records.

Pembroke ft Janet - Donna Campiero / Centersky

Here's a track which deserves to be a big summer tune. All the ingrients are in place. It has a catchy base line which is like the spine of the track. The build up is smooth and flows from a summer string into an effect-ized organ sound, followed by a heavenly voice.

All these pieces together create an atmosphere and vibe like heaven on earth; let's not the 80's sounding synth patch which puts the cream on the musical cake, created by Pembroke.

I played the track several times and people love it. Put this track on and summer 2010 has arrived.

Ilias Katelanos - Bay Trip ep / Lovezone Records

Mr Katelanos brings us an ep filled with dreamy, groovy deep house delights. This Greek based artist shows us his production skills and his ability to create tracks with a euphoric feel, house like it should be; enjoyable sounds and an impulse to get your imagination going and imagine whatever you'd like when you hear this well formed sounds.

Backstreets holds the middle between deep and funky house, it's a track I would play at around 2.00 AM or in the morning, a smooth atmospherique groover.

Bay Trip has a deeper spirit and is the kind of track for those divine late night sets, filled with majestic sound scapes like this track. The kind of tracks that lift you up and make you feel out of this world by the positive and peaceful energy they spread. This is flower power electronic music; that's what it does to me ... love, peace and happiness.

Disclosure Project - Daybreak EP / The Disclosure Project
Official Release Date: March 25th - April 8th
Label: Disclosure Project

Tracklist:

  1. Disclosure Project – Bath Time
  2. Disclosure Project – Freak When Sees
  3. Disclosure Project – Sleep Cycle

Disclosure Project - Daybreak EP / Disclosure Project

Bath Time is a track which makes you longing for that nice hot tub, just relaxing and enjoying the hot water and steam waving over the surface. A tune with those magic bell like sounds, smooth grooves and base line which makes your head nod softly. A beautiful piece of music; listen and dream... What I like most is the change in tone of the base line; it's a small gesture but it makes such a difference for a song. It's like the musical elements lead a live on their own and aren't just programmed by some clever producer. A track which I will definitely feature in my radio show on www.zenfm.be, every thursday between 10.00 - 00.00PM GMT+1.

Freak When Sees is a funky, uplifting, gentle tech houser. The text in this track is so right, listen and I hope you'll come to the same conclusion as I did. To make you curious, the frequencies used in this track make me happy and bring me in a pleasant mood.

Sleep cycle is a state of the art laid back groover, perfect for lounge bars and even restaurants. I would even play it on a beach like Sa Trinxa. Very mind easing sound scapes and a track to make you change your perception of things. Quality production on Disclosure Project Recordings.

Label: Disclosure Project

Tracklist:

  1. Paul Eaton – Kewl Sound (Da Funks Star Brigade Dub)
  2. M Lito & Nestora – Flying Over (Mr Jones Remix)
  3. Mr Jones – Do My (Mr Jones 2010 Remix)

Various Artists - Remixes part1 / Disclosure Project

Kewlsound in the Dafunk remix is from that level you can't resist its sound. The destructive base line will not miss its purpose, adding atmosphere to a room and filling bodies with its sonic spectrum. This the kind of tracks you like to put on, as it's friendly for the ears and yet, effective for the floor. There's a nice hynotic vibe around without being mind hammering.

M-Lito & Nestora - Flying Over is quality deep house, filled with gently floating strings and little plucky synth sounds as a counter weight for the almost unnoticeable base line.

Do My - Mr Jones 2010 remix resides in the deep house territory but has a tight rhythm and kick, suitable for those warm up sets or late, late night sets.

What I find remarkable in all Disclosure Project Recordings is the light-hearted atmosphere in their tracks, it keeps the songs fresh and leaves room for the separate sounds the tracks are build up with, to breath. And yet, the songs are complete. The secret of the good producer?

  3. Daniele Papini – She Evil
  4. Daniele Papini – She Evil (Namito Remix)
  5. Daniele Papini – The Third Zone

Daniele Papini - September Black ep / Kling Klong Records

Daniele Papini takes us on a hypnotizing journey with this new September Black ep. His first ep on the label of Martin Eyerer. Trademarks on this ep definitely are the deep, throbbing base lines which make the tracks tighter and make them stronger. The overall sound is drowned in a firm, hypnotizing vibe; base lines and melodies used here, the sound of the melodies is sometimes nasty and dirty but stays controlled and shaped in a way they are far more than rude patches. The structure or sound scapes are based on those frequencies which make your head spin and equally go through your stomach.

Quality production of mr Daniele Papini, Oliver Klein and Namito who are reponsible for the remixes on respectively September black and She Evil. My favourites on this ep are She Evil, the original mix, and September Black in the Oliver Klein Remix. Out on March 23rd 2010 on German label Kling Klong Records.

  1. DJ Prinz & Maks – 2000 Hands
  2. DJ Prinz & Maks – 2000 Hands (2nd Interpretation mix)
  3. DJ Prinz & Maks – 2000 Hands (BP Remix)

DJ Prinz & Maks - 2000 Hands ep / Pushit Records

The BP remix on this 2000 Hands ep definitely is a musical jewel in its style. An exstatic groove and some gentle organ stabs which add a mysterious and sexy vibe right from the start. The track builds and builds with a snare floating in real slow, taking 2 or 3 minutes to reach it's climax. By taking such a long time it's a real teaser for the crowd and to build up the tension on the floor, very nice done. A tech house appreciation of the highest sonic shelves!

Maks 2nd Interpretation takes on a more bumpy and tougher approach with some nervous synth stab, repeating all through the track. Some DJ's will favour this version. I like the BP Remix most.

The original version of 2000 Hands is built around a classic base line and dito build up. An element which makes this version open to the bigger crowds is the violin, programmed in a rather original way in the track, just stabs of it and no real melody; effective and contagious.

Imaani brown - Pieces ep / Deep Nota Records
Official Release Date: March 2010
Label: Deep Nota Records

Tracklist:

  1. Imaani Brown – Pieces
  2. Imaani Brown – Down
  3. Imaani Brown – Naked Truth
  4. Imaani Brown – Street Dreams
  5. Imaani Brown – Dis Poem

Imaani brown - Pieces ep / Deep Nota Records

Imaani Brown on Deep Nota Records, can't go wrong. In fact, when I think about it ... it's only logical these 2 titans of quality music have found each other. I recently had some contact with Mr. Imaani Brown through Soundcloud, an excellent platform to get your music listened to. I admire his style and respect his producer skills a lot. It's a good thing for Deep Nota Records they got him signed to their fantastic label.

Now about the ep, Dis Poem is a rather energetic track with a soulful twist; energetic for its rhytm structure and soulful for the synth which adds most of the instrumental body to the track. It's a rather fresh approach by Mr. Imaani Brown as he mixes two completely different elements together and creates a track which sounds original and shows us Mr. Brown's sense for creativity. So, excellent material for Deep Nota Records; quality comes first as we're used from Mr. Mickey K and the other Deep Nota artists.

Down flirts with a percussive nervous rhythm which gives the track a unique vibration. When played on a decent sound system, it will be hard not to start dancing. One thing I find remarkable in Down is the little, practically unnoticeable sounds which make this track more alive even though there's a certain repetitive pattern going on. These little sounds are there for this purpose only but they are so needed to give the track its unique character. Leave them out and you'll probably end up with a track not worthy to be released on Deep Nota Records. But Mr Brown masters his craft as he shows us on this fine pieces ep.

On to the next track, Naked Truth, which goal is to get those hands up in the air and to lift the night or party into utopian heights. The element taking care of that is some nasty string like synth which opens up to those subtle harsh and high "party anthem" frequencies as the micro breaks progress and to disappear in the tight and right on rhythmic groove as soon as the kick drops in. Not to much sonic fantasy here but a 4 to the floor funky and sexy smooth tech party anthem.

Pieces, one of my favourite here, resides in the jazzy house pool. Sensual keys and phat high hats are the elements which are the melodic tasty juice on this soulful and atmospheric track. One definitely to be played in my next radio show on www.zenfm.be and in my Easy Notes Podcast (culpa-events.be). A track perfect for those lounge bars, even restaurants and shops can play this. It's pleasant and sociable and its funkiness will work those female hips to. Trouble keeping the ladies amused? Play Pieces.

Street Dreams has the pleasant spirit like the other tracks on this ep, its sound is some what different though as the approach seems to come from a totally different angle as the other tracks. I would say its inspired by some semidarkness with the last sun sparkles still just above the horizon. It has that laid back atmosphere which I like so much. It's like tracks with this atmosphere emit a special sense of calm, it brings out a spiritual dimension, a stimulation for inner piece.

My general thought on this ep is that it's a good thing for Deep Nota Records to bring another talented and gifted musician like Imaani Brown in to the Deep Nota stable. Though the label has a high standard and reputation to keep up with when it comes down to quality, Mr. Imaani Brown's Pieces ep definitely delivers a fresh sound on Deep Nota Records.

  3. The Sargents – La Lacuna (Mic Newman Remix)
  4. The Sargents – La Lacuna (Nick Galea Circus Remix)
  5. The Sargents – La Lacuna (MDX & Mortlock Remix)

The Sargents - La Lacuna / Long Distance Recordings

La Lucana comes in a variety of mixes ranging from progressive house to tech house and soulful house with the MDX & Mortimer remix definitely being one of my favourites. It has a break which was first used with big success by Lil Louis, remember 'French Kiss'. Listen to the track and you'll understand what I mean. It happens at around 5.15 minutes. Although the sound is rather monotonous and cool tech like, MDX and Mortimer succeed in creating an atmospheric track. Kinda nervous but effective for the clubs. Well done on this one.

The Morale Remix floats in the sentimental end emotional area with its rather melancholous strings. Mic Newman takes on a whole different approach and drenches the tune into a soulful, tasty house dish. He keeps only the rhythmical structure and builds a warm melody over it with some colorful keys, one of my favourites here.

This Mic Newman remix will be featured in a next edition of my 15-Track Podcast and in my radio show on www.zenfm, every thursday between 10.00 - 00.00PM GMT+1.

Cool new ep on Long Distance Recordings.

  3. Da Lukas – Go! (David Garcet remix)

Da Lukas – Go!(feat. Mike Monday and David Garcet remixes) / Beef 32

The original Go is what you can call a classic house track; it's sexy, has a filthy base line and dito groove but what strikes me in the original is the purity of the sounds. It's like each frequency has found it's own spot to sit in the track. Let me correct myself: this is classic house produced with todays technology and effects. The groove fits a certain sonic character which make it suitable for either house or soul techno sets. Very well done by Mr. Da Lukas, who has released tracks on labels like Pacha, Frequenza and Hysterical. He recently reworked the well known Beat That Bitch Track with Johnny Dangerous.

The David Garcet and K.Hocini remix adds a touch of mysteriously shaped sound scapes to the already excellent original Go!. It's without any doubt my favourite track on this ep. The whispering voice which floats through the track definitely is a surplus. Mike Monday, for those who don't know him (is that possible?) has been releasing on the bigger labels on the scene like OM, Buzzin Fly, Freerange, Get Physical,... He has turned Go! into a tight and neat tech houser with influences from various other electronic styles of music. Check it out!

  3. Ramon Tapia - Sunka Sanka (Santos Kaosantos Remix)
  4. Ramon Tapia - Stronkie (Marc Miroir Remix)

Ramon Tapia - Sunka Sanka ep vol3 / Great Stuff Records

The Santos Kaosantos remix of Sunka Sanka tears the roof of the place. With a destroying sonic hard and repetitive rhythm Santos Kaosantos has succeeded in creating a remix which can compete with the original, that's the least I can say about this mix. He adds tension with crazy voice effects in the micro-break. By puttting in this kind of break, the rhythm never really leaves the track and keeps the track going without ever becoming annoying. I can even hear some DJ Sneak like filter effect going on in the background at some point. Hey, have a listen, will you?

With Say What it's like we're back in the mid nineties, repetitive rhythms and dito vocals. Not bad as it's a fresh sound for those young generations and for the older folks ... well, let's say it makes my blood run faster and I must admit I'm excited about this evolution.

Stronkie has an element, so important for those peak time moments namely the melody which resides in the higher frequencies and puts this track in perfect balance. Peak time track if you ask me. The Marc Miroir Remix of Stronkie is more of track and will be liked by the more distorted ones among us. Tougher and after hour version.

Bowyer Hawks - The Eal / ALBUM:21st Century Wolf on LAW Recordings - Sneak preview

Mr. Bowyer Hawks goes off in 2010 in a direction hard to subscribe. I like to call this track, The Eal, an underground monster with all the right sentiments and sounds to be worthy of that name.

Bubbling sounds are floating through the track, drowning you in the dirtiest underground territory with a rhythm just the perfect pattern. A pattern in which the high hats follow slowly the beats, thus creating a groove sooo hypnotic; just like underground clubs and people like as its rhythms like this which blow that undescribable atmosphere out of their speakers.

An atmosphere which breaths frequencies out that make you feel your deepest self, unresistable for hours. An atmosphere which makes you hungry for more of this magical sonic sauce. A sauce which keeps you in its spell for the rest of your life or as long as you're into this kind of music. But ... there's no escaping, like I said ... it will keep you in its spell.

Thank you Mr. Bowyer Hawks for this Track and the inspiration it gave me to write this review. This track deserves to be played out again and again ... and again ... and again ...

Oliver M & Jean Philips feat Sua Amoa - Strings Of Motion / Sorry Shoes 11

Sorry Shoes returns with a percussive disco-ish track, supported by a Georgio Moroder-like base line. Disco stabs provide a fresh and funny approach in this track and the sexy and sensual vocal will do the bizz on the floor.

I especially like the part where the voice seems doubled, it creates space in the mix and gives the track an extra push. A sure party anthem on Sorry Shoes. Check out the other mixes on this ep, as there's a huge variety of mixes for every one's taste. This mix rocks!

The in 2008 established Planetaria Recordings gives us a rather minimal techno tune but with enough attention for sonic detail it stays infectuous and amusing, in the form of Uone's Kingdom. A phat rhythmic groove surrounded with hypnotic sounds and bleeps.

The PauEasy Remix is the mix which will get played the most at peak time, I believe. It's got all the right ingredients and a strong rhythmic pattern to keep it going. The mix I like most is the Trinity & Beyond mix as it inserts a more emotional and laid back atmosphere and thus residing in a more new school soul techno vibe.

  5. Rainer Weichhold - Ride The Horse (Robytek & Ralf Armani Remix)

Rainer Weichhold - Ride The Horse / Starlight Records

The mix I prefer most in this high quality basic or classic house package is the Aki Bergen Remix. You should know by now I'm fond of those laid back rhythms which keep bubbling along. Tracks which take their time to build up in a subtle and practically unnoticeable way. And then, all of a sudden, an element comes in and tears the track out of its laidback groove for a brief moment ... The element which does that here is some masterly shaped synth sound; it pops out of the rhythm as smooth as the rhythm bubbles along. A great combination on Starlight Records. The vocal snippets add funkiness to this version and make it highly amusing and pleasant.

The Doomwork remix keeps the funk in the track and even goes a step further with the addition of some sax stabs, beat wise they choose for a slight heavier beat. The original Ride The Horse takes on a more uplifting jacket and tougher rhythm, thus making it a peak hour track. The Robytek & Ralf Armani Remix resides in the soul techno spirit with a pounding base line which will do the bizz on the floor. Very nice version too, a version like this is always good to give a night a different twist, especially when the shakers pop in is a tension adding moment.

The UGLH & Federico Locchi Remix is the mix for the real house heads, Ian Pooley amongst others is supporting this version. Classic disco like house made with classic house sounds and a tight rhythm. A track when heard in the mix will sure fit in. Very nice from Mr. Weichhold.

Once again I notice producers are taking things in a classic house direction, going back to the roots??

  1. Shades of Gray – Tango

  3. Shades of Gray - Arabesque
  4. Shades of Gray – Arabesque (Little Fritter remix)

Shades Of Gray - Tango(feat. PEZZNER and LITTLE FRITTER remixes)

Tango is all about what the the title of the track tells us, right ... tango. The most infectuous, funky groove and a melody which will make you itchy! Beef Records continues their splendid house journey with Shades Of Gray showing us their excellent production work.

The Pezzner Part 1 Remix turns the track into a more techy adventure. Mr.Pezzner delivers a version with layered sounds which float over and under each other through. This is top quality production talent. The track is filled with sounds, yet it never gets confusing or disturbing. The sound scapes created here blend perfectly together and the way the original melody comes floating in at around 4.30 can only be done by a real master..Excellent version of Tango by Mr. Pezzner.

I must admit, as good as the Mr. Pezzner version is, I have a bigger sympathy for Arabesque. It has a subtle old skool feel and the Arabic horn blurring in gives it a positive and uplifting vibe. Highly enjoyable music on this Beef31.

The Little Fritter Remix of Arabesque tightens the rhythm up and turns the track into a peak time track where the original Arabesque is more after hour material. Especially the basic house synth patch which comes in at around 5.00 minutes makes the track stronger and more real.

Beef Records delivers ..again.. a top notch production.

Luetzenkirchen continuous his splendid new formula, existing of repetitive vocal hooks and strong, phat grooves. His sound is fresh and uplifting, a fact sure in his advantage.

His tracks are marked with party anthem dust and that's what this track will do on the floor, poison the crowd with party anthem dust. Don't forget to check out the Pseydo Dub. Body Nation is a party stormer with enough energy to get played out in the bigger main rooms. Yoh-Ka holds the middle between tech house and soulful house. A fusion well brougt by Mr. Luetzenkirchen. Yoh-Ka is my favourite here.

Riding with you.. hell yeah, absolutely sure of it! Mr. Moveks what a tune! The most wicked rhythmic structure of the year so far. The melody Riding With You starts with is so exstatic and vibrating, impossible not to get infected. The frequency enters your mind and spins every cell of your brain separately around on its place. But wait, the real damage begins when this deep, filthy, throbbing base line starts being a part of this sonic madness. It's like a hammer beating on rock at 20 miles under the ocean! Beware people on d*p* cause this will make your journey quite some time longer. Here I Go whispers the woman and that's defintely one thing you WILL do, you will GO! One of the strongest tracks on Deep Nota Records in its entire history, if you ask me. True house music like back in the days of the Music Box with DJ Ron Hardy.

The Jeff On The Road Dub is a fine, hmmm, other version with less vocals and even more wicked vocal stabs. Check it out, a version for those who don't like vocals or who prefer a completely off the hook version.

Juzina is a bit lighter in atmosphere but has an excellent percussive groove with a high nervosity level; that must be the main key here; sonic nervosity. Percussion and spooky, mysterious squeeks on the deeper edge and a guitar-like sound on the above levels, levelling this track into balance. This is basically scientology as the deeper frequencies have impact on your body and the higher elements, the guitar in this case, enters your head and keeps your head occupied. The end of Juzina is rather unusual but this creates a challenge for the DJ's amongst us. It seems as the track reachs another climax and than it ends..surprising but this can be seen as an advantage to surprise your crowd with. Give it a chance...will you?

Tracklist:

  1. TonBe - Her Style
  2. TonBe - New Relationship
  3. TonBe - Think About

TonBe - Her Style EP / Deep Nota Records

TonBe - Her Style:

A track which fits fine in my laid back sets, a track with frequencies you can feel but not hear. And yet, if they weren't there you'd say "hey there's something missing in that track"; that's my point, feel it but not hearing it. The tight kick and subtle strong rhythm make this track a good warm-it-upp'er. I would play this, let's say, some where in between the real slow and the let's-get-the-party-started stuff. A vibe to let the people know or tease them with a track which has an announcement to make, namely let's start heating things up; but slowly, not to hard yet. The quality of the sounds ... Do I have to say it again?? Deep Nota Records' tracks are well worked on, the productions are good and properly done. So is this track. The other two tracks, New relationship and think about, in this ep sure can compete with this track and with everything else out there in the same musical domain.

TonBe - New Relationship:

New relationship is a well chosen title for this track as the overall feeling is a feeling of hope and joyful expectations. That's what a new relationship is all about; hope and expectations. The main elements providing this fine atmosphere are the base line and on the higher frequencies the keys are doing the bizz. The extra touch is done by the sax and flute which are of atmospheric assistance to the keys, infact to the whole track. It's these little notes or sonic appearances which give the track its cool vibe. Another element pushing in some mystery is the voice, put in with effects all over it but it blends in as it should. I love this funky relax your mind vibe. Nice production from TonBe.

TonBe - Think About:

Funky deepness on its best performance. This is the kind of track where you think there's not too much happening but infact if you take the time to listen to the whole track from start to finnish, you will hear its packed with little variations. A certain sexiness is added by the kind pounding base line which causes an out of the ordinary sensual touch. The pounding gets somewhat harder after the break (at around 4.35 min), thus adding energy to the track and emphasizing one of the main elements of the track. The psychedelic bells appearing at unexpected moments create a spooky like sixth sense, nice touch.. An emotional and sonically well balanced track.

Sorry Shoes does the bizz again with this prog house and sexy tube. My favourite mixes here are the Bedrud Remix, Roy Ash Mix. Cool and filthy beats and a nasty, dirty voice are the main ingredients here. A combination which has proven its value when its well produced.

That's the least you can say about this release. Tracks like this one are a joy to put up to a crowd who is open for new music and this kind of vibe. The hypnotic sense created by the space left for the rhythm to breath gives a unique character to the track.

When you're able to achieve this as a producer, it means you're well on your way in mastering the spectrum of sound.

Sorry Shoes 12 comes in a variety of mixes as we're used by Sorry Shoes. So what's keeping you? Check it out, I'm sure there's a mix in for you!

DJ Prinz & Maks - Electric Kiss / Pushit Records

Dj Prinz and Maks release their second ep on Belgian imprint Pushit Records. They stay true to the spirit of the first ep, Magicago, which means uplifting and positive vibes.

The original mix of Electric Kiss contains a strong contagious vibe and can cause some serious damage on the floor. I'm more fond of Electric Kiss - The 2nd appreciation. It has a more acidious base line and sounds more twisted, definitely the mix I would play out. The acidic master card is played out in full effect after the break (4.30 minutes), thus rocking the place is in place here!

Maks Jacked Out version is drenched in a I-want-to-go-oldskool-vibe, a highly amusing repetitive track; check it out. The Metrobox remix takes the track in a darker and techno-ish direction, it's well build and sure will provide many floors with a spooky and mysterious atmosphere, keeping the clubbers in its place...

DJ Prinz & Maks push it on Pushit Records!

Label: Deep Nota Records

Tracklist:

  1. Dani Junqeuro - El Baile Dell Pollo
  2. Dani Junqeuro - Still Awake

Dani Junqeuro - Baile ep - Deep Nota Records

When El Baille Del Pollo starts it reminds me of the sound of the mid nineties. It seems this was done on purpose to give the track a some what old skool feel. The rhythm patterns wobble amusingly through the track, keeping you focused on the music. The flute blurring in and doing it's magic make this track exceptional and stand out in its style. So soft is the flute, yet it doesn't work against the tight grooving rhythm of the beats and bass. This is what I like to call a well balanced track.

The old skool feel is made stronger with the male vocal ending with the magic words house music is the answer. It has to be true as house is, after all these years, still around and it still keeps people awake. For some of us it's a big part of our lives...Which brings me to the second track, still awake.

A track with a deeper attitude and smooth psychedelic sounds. Sound scapes definitely appreciated by the long time house heads, the real house core who digg the real stuff. Twisted and off track sounds like these sure are a part of the whole house bubble or scene. Tracks shaped with love for the music, that's what they are telling me.

Tracklist:

  1. Flavio Lodetti & Sinc – Sikandra (Original)
  2. Flavio Lodetti & Alister – In the wall (Original)
  3. Flavio Lodetti & Alister – Viva la vida (Original)

Flavia Lodetti, Alister, Sinc - Sikandra ep / Session Deluxe 027

Sikandra is the kind of tech house hard to resist to, deep and throbbing base line and a hypnotic vocal hook. The sound keeps rolling from start to finnish and surrounds you with its strong mind absorbing frequencies. You are warned..

In The Wall has the name party anthem written all over it, uplifting and nervous rhythms, samples put in in a creative way and the beats which keep on going and going. This will keep your floors packed.

Viva La Vida is a track to keep in your bag for a couple of months more. This one deserves to be played out in the summer, in the clubs and on beaches; in pubs and sunset bars. My guess is ... it will be. Amusing and perfect summer groove. Watch this one cause it will make you sweat this summer in your hometown or abroad on some hot beach.

Sessions Deluxe delivers strong! One thing's for sure, Sessions Deluxe is totally back! Respect, Mr Martin Eyerer.

Mickey K - Lies ep / Deep Nota Records
Official Release Date: 02 February 2010
Label: Deep Nota Records

Tracklist:

  1. Mickey K - 1975
  2. Mickey K – Big Blue Balloon

Mickey K - Lies ep / Deep Nota Records

With this ep it seems Mickey K is taking a break from the uplifting productions which seemed a bit his trademark lately. Here he spoils us with the most pleasant laid back groove or maybe that was just the spirit back in 1975, hence the name of the track. And as is often the case with Deep Nota Records, a surprising hook has been included here too.

Around 4 minutes a cool and mellow guitar slides in and blends perfectly together in the magical sonic sound scapes, crafted in a masterful way by Mickey K. I'm very fond of this sound, it wakens up an extra dimension of your soul, one hard to describe but one thing it does for sure is: it leaves you in a utopian state of happiness.

Deep Nota continues on their own high quality rollercoaster of sound. They continue in delivering strong productions release after release. Is there something special or spooky in the air in Brooklyn?

In Big Blue Balloon the guitar plays a more significant role and makes the track sound fresh and new. A gentle guitar blended together with house beats and a western like but mysterious sounding harmonica are doing the bizz here.

Nice to hear there are artists who keep searching new hooks and ways to create new music with a style that was invented back in 1989. House music still rules and so does Deep Nota Records!

  4. Fog & Arara – Broken Trumpets
  5. Fog & Arara – She is going down

Fog & Arara – Ross Beef (feat. Monoroom and Child remixes) / Beef Records

Beef Records are taking a more and more soulful house approach with the strength on uplifting and cool vibes, productions sounding like they are made in the hometown of house music. The original, Ross Beef, is a funky soulful groover with some subtle disco stabbs and a black male vocal to add that extra bit to a track.

The Monoroom remix takes a different approach and turns the track into a tight tech houser with the focus on the uplifting spirit of the original track. Monoroom keeps things airy though, read pleasant.

The Child remix is a pearl in its style. A solid base existing of full and warm sounds, flirting with a slight proggy house vibe or should I call this Deep House? Nicely done by Aussie producer Child, a proove and show off of his production skills!

Broken trumpets is a combination of firm and kinda nervous tech house beats with a melody played by soulful trumpets. This kind of track explores the sonic boundaries of the rules of music making. It's a thin line between creating something which is sonically correct or a sonical disaster. Luckily for Beef Records, it's the former. I'm really for this sound, it's vibrant and amusing..

She is going down is a bit like the opener on this ep when it comes down to the overall atmosphere. A good production and when heard in the mix, the crowd will sure digg it. Pleasant and not to miss ep on Beef Records for the house heads out there.

  2. Uone - Kontrol (Continuum Blue Grass Remix)
  3. Uone - Kontrol (Arnaud Le Texier Remix)
  4. Uone - Kontrol (Dark Room Mix)

Uone – Kontrol

Funky, twisted mind absorbing rhythms and whistle bell crazyness. The latter synced to the tempo of the track. The original is one of my favourite mixes here. Very repetitive but sooo effective!
A base line so hypnotizing and like wise wooden blocks. Together they form the most sonic unique sound scape.

Arnaud Le Texier gives his own interpretation on the drive prsent in the original. He pulls the higher sounding events a bit more in the background. Doing so, he adds focus on the base line which can be seen as the back bone in his version.

The Continuum Bluegrass Remix is also a version which keeps hanging. Right from the start the tension and the "make-you-move" vibe is present. Strong groovy, positive uplifting sounds and a tight production here. Very nice!!

The Dark Room mix comes shaped with more filthy and nasty beats. Maybe this is the most hypnotizing version in this package. I would definitely play it in my after sets, this vibe is perfect for it. Put a tune like this on and I guarantee you no one will leave the floor or club.

Beef Records continues on the most sharp edge of the tech house sword!

  1. Vincent Thomas - If I Had Known This Before
  2. Vincent Thomas - Heureka
  3. Umek vs Jay Lumen - Sinful Ladies
  4. Per Hammar - Bang

Munich Tech Disco EP vol6 (GSR097)

An ep filled with funky bangers and a rework of a well known melody which could be huge (it probably will). I'm talking about Vincent Thomas's If I Had Known This Before, who has done a clever re-work of Kissogram. It sure deserves your attention as like I said before it's clever done. No empty cover but a cool track.

Another track which got caught by my auricles is Heureka, also by Vincent Thomas. The track has a wicked groove but the surprise lies in the breaks when the melody pops in. It's like a contrabass which sits perfectly in the mix. Talking about a fresh approach, Mr. Vincent Thomas definitely found one! Umek vs Jay Lumen delivers his personal intepretation of what a bell like track should be like and adds a euphoric twist here and there, searching the boundaries? Have a listen and decide for yourself. Bang by Per Hammar is like sexiness on sp**d, a track which can cause a party to burst open into a hell of a party. Munich Tech Disco ep vol6 is a must have for the tech housers who are looking for warm and party like tracks!

  2. Martin Eyerer – Muscia Rodante (Stephan Hinz Remix)
  3. Martin Eyerer – Musica Rodante (Mihalis Safras Remix)

Martin Eyerer - Musica Rodante ep / Session Deluxe 026

Musica Rodante is a tech house track for the peak time moments. From the start it builds slowly, taking you along on its hypnotic journey. The surprising element for me is the flute which is the main element and main hook in this song.

A different approach and angle on house music seems to flow through the scene. It gives the music new energy and makes it fresh once again. This sound is constantly re-inventing itself thanks to people like Martin Eyerer.. My favourite track here and definitely a track I will play in my 15-Track Podcast

Mr. Stephan Hintz plays with some organ like notes and forms a smooth deep house melody on a base line spun with the lowest octaves. As the flute is the main part in this track it's kinda hard not to include it but the foreplay in Mr Stephan Hintz's version could be a track on its own.

Mr. Mihalis Saffras turns the track into a scary and hypnotizing monster. After every pseudo break, he smoothly slides in a new element; making the track even more twisted. After hour heads, watch out, this could do serious damage. Sessions Deluxe with Musica Rodante, what a return!

  1. Micky K feat. Dejan P - Something Unusual

  3. Micky K feat. Dejan P - Something Unusual (Radio Mix)

Mickey K feat. Dejan P - Something Unusual (Deep Nota Records)

Mickey K puts together a track with all the right ingredients, a track which should be played on the better radio stations and in the clubs which have the better audiences. Audiences mature enough to appreciate music like this.

Something Unusual is a good exmple of what house music should be like; enjoyable, melodic and sentimental. Let's not forget the funky undertone as that's really a must have factor to get those hips moving.

Mickey K succeeds again in building a little story, or should I say fairy tale.. He builds his tracks and pays attention to every detail. The sonic spectrum is filled with the right ingredients without any gap or the slightest annoying note. And when you think you've heard it all, another sound comes up .. fitting in like a second skin with the other musical elements.

World it's time to wake up!! Here's Deep Nota Records... Oohh, before I forget.. the original is my favourite here. Though the track stands out without the vocal, I believe it's necessary to get the complete picture.

Roland Nights - Bright Light ep (Urban Torque)

The mighty Urban Torque. It's a pleasure for me to get the chance to review an ep which will be released on Urban Torque. It's one of my favourite labels for the last years now.

It's a promising start for Mr Roland Nights, his debut ep and straight up on Urban Torque; what a start!! He deserves it as Bright Light is a piece of deep house music with the right sounds on the right places. A bobbling base line, based on a friendly frequency so you can listen to it for hours. Emotional moments build in with the violins and stings appearing on the right moment. What do you want more? This is it, at home, in a bar or in your bath..this is it!

Phonic takes on the same direction, but the overall groove has a more funky and groovy base where 'Bright Light' is more laidback. Fabulous ep, well done Mr Roland Nights and congratulations for Urban Torque with this EP. It will be out on th 11th of January.

Exit Earth "The Sun" (remixed) (Sorry Shoes 10)

Sorry Shoes continues with releases with a variety of mixes; mixes in different styles which form a complete musical package for a broad range of Dj's and audiences. The mixes which please me the most are The Carlos Mendes & Danni Matin CMDM Remix, which has a pleasant proggresive house vibe and an almost spiritual sense over it. One thing you will notice is the high emotional value this mix carries.

The Idriss Chebak Excite Earth Remix resides more in the tech house area and is a bit more twisted and darker, it has a wobbly and smooth groove which sounds cosy but sure have a decent impact on the floor. Watch out for the break here. The Jean Philips & Mike Kelly Deeptech Instrumental sounds warm and nasty with it's friendly harsh high hats and takes on the dance floor oriented approach. It works, I've seen it happening.

Komm Unity Overture is a wonderful piece of quality music, sounds and voice take your innerself and make you feel peaceful and calm. The perfect track to play while the sun is going down or coming up. The atmosphere created here is hard to describe with words, listen and be drowned in he sonic world of Komm Unity.. Than on to my favourite, Mr Mortlock, tight beats and sounds worked on till something different came out of the box. Throw in a dark rhythm and voice and you get a mysterious track which poisons you with it's sick sonical potion of dry, wicked sounds.

A good release and good start of 2010 for Sorry Shoes!
